As we do every year, we have reached out to families to share their birth stories from the perspective of their little one – a love letter, if you will, to their midwifery team. We want to thank the incredible midwives that work in our communities for their dedication, especially during these uncertain times when their work puts them and their families at risk to continue to offer their unparalleled care to birthing families.

Happy International Day of the Midwife to the amazing midwives who work in our communities! The theme for this year is Midwives: Defenders of Women’s Rights. Celebrating this special day has become a sort of tradition for us, as we reach out to families and ask them for “Love Letters” written from the perspective of their Little Ones who were brought into the world under midwifery care.

Every year on May 5th we celebrate the International Day of the Midwife. This year’s theme is “Midwives leading the way with quality care”. Last year, we reached out to the families of Headwater Hills for Love Letters from their Little Ones to their midwives, and the response was overwhelming. We loved these letters so much that we reached out again this past week and have received the most beautiful stories and photos.

When we reached out to the families in the Headwater Hills region to participate in a project supporting our local midwifery practice Midwives of Headwater Hills, we were overwhelmed by the response.
